May 7, 2026 — For more than 20 years in Cobb County, students have written letters explaining why their mothers deserve a diamond in the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day.
David Douglas Diamonds and Jewelry started its Dazzling Diamonds for Mom initiative to give back to local families in Cobb County while showcasing the importance of writing at a young age.
“This is just one small way we can give back to the community and honor moms in the process,” said owner Doug Meadows.
Each year, one winner is selected from thousands of entries across kindergarten through fifth grade. The winner receives one loose 1/4-carat genuine round-cut brilliant diamond from David Douglas Diamonds and Jewelry in Marietta.

Psst…hey Moms! We’re so excited our #DiamondsForMom contest is back this year! If your child is in a Cobb County Schools elementary school, be sure their teacher participates.
